"Abstract Art" by benchen71
Welcome to...
benchen71's Metas on a Tuesday (MOAT)
Can you storm the castle by getting across the MOAT? Art lovers shouldn't have any problems with this one. But there are lots of hints in this puzzle, so hopefully everyone can make it to the meta answer, which is a painting.
PM me with your submissions or submit on Crosshare. Either way, I'll compile a list of those who successfully solve the meta.

Abstract Art - PUZ
Abstract Art - PDF
Abstract Art - Excel
Nudges are here.
The solution is here.

Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

Confirmed on Crosshare that I extracted the abstract. Thanks for a nice meta, Ben!

Thank you, Ben, for lowering the drawbridge so that I could cross the moat. I had never heard of the nickname of the artist.

Well, got it with a nudge and some Googling. I think I must be missing something re: the mechanism.

Moat? Bah! I'm way past that.
I think.
Awaiting confirmation from Ben (what, he's not awake at 4:52 am Aussie time?), but confident.
Another fun MOAT!

Did anyone ever being knowledgeable about things *can't* be a mechanism?Meg wrote: Tue Jan 18, 2022 12:06 pm Well, got it with a nudge and some Googling. I think I must be missing something re: the mechanism.
I don't think there really is a coding mechanism. I think this is a straight forward follow the hints. Which I suppose could qualify more of a "find the theme" than a meta... but if "there are no rules" can it not be both?

Well I tried it but had to guess from several possibilities… maybe didn’t consider ALL the clues in my guess, but there seemed to be a fun confirmation of the one I did pick. I think I know what I SHOULD have picked.
Oh well… I thought this was one of the most enjoyable grids I’ve seen from Benchen… thanks!

For those of you who worked the answer out from the hints provided: there definitely is a mechanism in the grid to be found!
