I watched them faithfully for years! Great show.
I am from Chicago but never saw either of them in person. I did share a summer job one year with Neal Gabler who was one of the critics on later years of Sneak Preview, and we went to college together. We always talked about movies and I remember he more or less idolized Roger Ebert.

Ashore!
Also notable, today is my wife and my 44th wedding anniversary!! It's a good thing I won't be moping about solving the meta tonight when we are out to dinner.

After last week, this was almost disappointing with how quickly we got it. Well, we got SOMETHING at least. But I feel like there ought to be another piece to confirm the answer.

13 pages of posts by Friday! That’s gotta be some kind of record. Easy puzzle or hot debate? At any rate, I’m ashore and drinking Japanese whiskey!

Ashore, for only the 2nd time. My second streak of one in a row.

Ashore. I found it very easy but since I've been lost at sea for months I'll take it.

Well, clearly Matt and Mike decided to give us a break after last week’s hellish experience. Bob, I fear you will be quite busy this weekend - and the beach will be crowded. But, it is the last weekend in August and we all deserve a well earned beach drink. Happy weekend to all!

Ashore, for the very first time after being asea for so many months! And stands to reason that so many folks have already made it ashore by Friday pm (if I can make it, and so on..)

From the "tough love" division:
1. Has probably been answered.
2. Neither.
3. If you need to ask 2, you shouldn't be doing either of these, either. But if you have the money, buy used and pay cash.

On shore. Glad to have an easy one this week. I'll order a Blue Blazer, I think

I assume this week was easy because of the WSJ Crossword Course being introduced to help the newbies?

On shore. Quick solve. No chance for rabbit holes. Shiraz/cab blend, please. On from a bottle with a screw cap, I think, since I'm moving quickly this evening, apparently. At least if the puzzle solving is a guide.
Haven't had time to read the comments. Looking forward to reviewing to see how the "Page 1 with an asterisk" controversy shook out, if it did. Or what grammatical issue is now bedeviling the Muggles.

On shore! For some reason, a pina colada would hit the spot.

Met Roger when covering Sundance some years back, and kept in touch via email when his illness kept him from coming back to Utah. Miss him terribly, as a critic and a human. He had a particular seat in one Park City theater he liked — good sightlines, and easy escape when the movie was over — and I always try to occupy it during the festival.KayW wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 3:30 pm I was one of the ones that solved early on the "Sneak Preview". (BTW anyone else remember and miss Siskel & Ebert? )
I didn't think I had heard of the movie, so I googled. When I read the IMDb summary, I said to myself "oh THAT! movie". It's a good movie and I'll add it to my queue to rewatch... Now that I've remembered the title

Ashore, but not thrilled by the meta: had to leverage The Google for assistance.
