MEOW #221 Prominent Features

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

MEOW #221 Prominent Features

#1

Post by benchen71 »

Last night [months ago!] I had an idea for a possible MEOW. But when I came to construct the grid this afternoon, I hit some issues. But with a slight change in direction, the puzzle you see before you emerged. And while it is not quite what I had initially intended, I think it might even be slightly better! The answer to the meta is a 2-word phrase that will be rather prominent.

The easiest way to submit is on Crosshare (and you get instant feedback and unlimited attempts!) But you can also PM me with your submission. Either way, I'll compile a list of those who successfully solve the meta.

Prominent Features - Crosshare
Prominent Features - PUZ
Prominent Features - PDF

Kitten
Calico
Persian
Puma
Lion

Nudges are here.
The solution is here.

Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta! :D

Cat flew out of the Dorito bag. It’s still amazed at what it learned from yesterday's MOAT.

Cat escaped last night and haven’t seen her since… might be hunting down another meta to conquer. Thanks Ben!

The prominent feature of this cat is that it is now out of the bag!
Bespoke nudges available upon request (if I'm on shore, off the couch, in the castle, petting an un-bagged cat, ...).
Let me know how small or large a hint you want, or hit me with a specific question(s).
