Got a late start and was stuck in a rough current until finally finding the path to shore.

Hmm.... my wandering (and there was a lot of it) came after the AHA moment.Lyman wrote: Thu Feb 16, 2023 6:47 pm Ashore. The AHA moment comes quickly, but only after a bit of wandering.
GUAVA is not an anagram of VAGUE and PEPPER is not a palindrome.

Yup!ship4u wrote: Thu Feb 16, 2023 6:43 pm Ashore4us. Had step one straight away and then went down more rabbit holes than holes found in a round of swiss cheese.
This one was less of an "AHA" and more of a "D'OH!"

Ashore, though if this were a Gaffney puzzle, I think I'd be looking for another step.

After some burrowing into rabbit holes, I have a very good and defendable answer.
On shore.
On shore.

Ashore!
Rabbits kindly provided by @Bob cruise director in honor of last Tuesday.
Particularly welcome as I'm on vacay and not spending much time rabbit hunting.
Actually, I befriended a 45A today instead.

Ashore, after spending an inordinate amount of time swimming in circles. But … as my mother used to say … all’s well that ends well …

On shore!
What if the WSJ instituted a new submission policy?
"Please show all your work.

No credit will be given to solutions unaccompanied by sufficient work.
Any form of careless presentation will result in a deduction of points."
It's academic!

14D for a few minutes, then found the right stream and the right canoe... and paddled ashore slowly. Very clever puzzle. Let the Destihl Normal Pils flow.

After swimming against the current, think I finally made it to shore.
Anyone who's confident in their answer, please pm me. I'd like to bounce my answer and logic.
Thanks all who responded. I'm confident now. CHEERS!

On shore. First time in months I've found the time to actually make it.

Ashore with similar solving experience as ship4u. It’s amazing what all one finds when grasping for the rabbit tail.
