Got a late start and was stuck in a rough current until finally finding the path to shore.

Hmm.... my wandering (and there was a lot of it) came after the AHA moment.

Yup!
This one was less of an "AHA" and more of a "D'OH!"

Ashore, though if this were a Gaffney puzzle, I think I'd be looking for another step.

After some burrowing into rabbit holes, I have a very good and defendable answer.

Rabbits kindly provided by @Bob cruise director in honor of last Tuesday. ❤️
Particularly welcome as I'm on vacay and not spending much time rabbit hunting.
Actually, I befriended a 45A today instead.

Ashore, after spending an inordinate amount of time swimming in circles. But … as my mother used to say … all’s well that ends well … 🙂.

What if the WSJ instituted a new submission policy?
"Please show all your work.
Please be organized and show your work clearly.
No credit will be given to solutions unaccompanied by sufficient work.
Any form of careless presentation will result in a deduction of points."

It's academic!

14D for a few minutes, then found the right stream and the right canoe... and paddled ashore slowly. Very clever puzzle. Let the Destihl Normal Pils flow.

After swimming against the current, think I finally made it to shore.

Anyone who's confident in their answer, please pm me. I'd like to bounce my answer and logic.

Thanks all who responded. I'm confident now. CHEERS!

Ashore with similar solving experience as ship4u. It’s amazing what all one finds when grasping for the rabbit tail.
