MEOW #104 Top Down Shout Out

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

MEOW #104 Top Down Shout Out

#1

Post by whimsy »

First order of business is an announcement (or reminder if you've checked the calendar lately - Thanks, Peter) that there will be no MEOW puzzle next Wednesday, November 23rd. The cat will be too busy getting underfoot amid all the kitchen preparations to even think about crawling into a bag. But s/he'll pick up right where s/he left off on the 30th.

Now to this week's puzzle --Top Down Shout Out --

Untitledtopdown.png

I'm never certain of the difficulty rating.
The grid probably comes in at a Persian, and the meta? Umm...one of those you either see quickly... or maybe not.

Thanks to the backup singers (aka testers) @Cap'n Rick, @MarkWoychick, and @DrTom.
And let's hear it for @Joe Ross on the drums (tech).

PMs and nudges as usual.

Wait, what's Persian again? Is that the most difficult level?

Sorry @Dplass -- It's smack in the middle -- I should probably include this each time since I too sometimes forget --

Kitten
Calico
Persian
Puma
Lion

(Maybe we should all show our devotion by tattooing it on our wrists. )

I've been alerted that there wasn't an option to submit on Crosshare.
I've gone back and I hope corrected that, but there may still be a lag while it updates.
We'll see if it worked!

What the heck is it with the music themed metas this week?

A reverse nudge a la @Cap'n Rick, but not even camouflaged  -- The theme here is not music!

I could watch that GIF for an unhealthy amount of time.

Oh, I'm in the puzzle, bahahaha. (Or at least my beloved is!)

I kind of had to solve this one, what with having my name right there on the top row:)

Cat is free!
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Awaiting nudges in the fullness of time. (Ooh, that reminds me: I need to post the MOAT nudges!)
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta! :D

Thanks, David.
Yup, I'll send out some nudges tomorrow night -- just in time for Ben to see them as he's rising bright-eyed & etc. :D
And reveal will be posted Tuesday, just in time to clear the deck for the next MEOW on, uh.... Wednesday!
