"Horror Movie Trope II" by benchen71
Welcome to...
benchen71's Metas on a Tuesday (MOAT)
Can you storm the castle by getting across the MOAT? It's that time of year again. To mark the occasion here's another meta puzzle that seeks to illustrate a horror movie trope.
The easiest way to submit is on Crosshare (and you get instant feedback and unlimited attempts!) But you can also PM me with your submission. Either way, I'll compile a list of those who successfully solve the meta.
Horror Movie Trope II - Online Form
Horror Movie Trope II - PUZ
Horror Movie Trope II - PDF
Horror Movie Trope II - spreadsheet
Nudges are here.
The solution will be posted Monday.

Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

Is that a monster in that moat I crossed? Fun puzzle and a thankful intuitive solve. Happy Booday to you!
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Crossed the moat!
I don't have anything clever to say, but if I did, it would go here.

Crossed. Stormed. Fun!

This movie horrified my wife and me when it came out, long before we met. We watched it ten years ago with our then 20 something sons. They laughed at the special effects. They were convinced that it was a spoof. Their loss.ChrisKochmanski wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 5:00 pm Tonight: “The Birds”, with a Hitchcock movie-watching Zoom group. “No!!! You didn’t hear that!!! Something I noticed early threw me off track, effectively acting as a red herring and creating a SAD puzzle for me. I needed help to save me but I have crossed the MOAT. Sorry for all of the guesses Ben!

I have crossed the moat. It was on a rickety little open car, on tracks that jerked it around, into a musty, echo-ey space, with piped-in screams and moans...
