MEOW #169 - Lateral Thinking

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

MEOW #169 - Lateral Thinking

Hey, it's Darth here, excited to present today's MEOW! The idea for this meta was formed after a family event during the holidays. It was originally titled "Cryptic Collaboration" with a plan toward a meta challenge that would encourage a "group" solve. Not to worry, it's much tamer now and more accessible.

I'd love to say more, but I don't want to spoil the joy of discovery. After all, that's what "lateral thinking" is all about!

The answer to this meta is a group activity.

(Oh, and a special shout out to @DrTom for the helpful advice and to @Joe Ross for the technical help.)

Cat is free and taking a post-breakfast nap (which could be a group activity except (a) I've got to go to work and (b) the other cats are upstairs).
