"Significant Digits" Oct. 13, 2023
Hello Muggles!
It's Wendy, filling in for Bob Cruise Director, who is leaf-peeping with Mrs. Cruise Director.
What a treat we have this week: a meta-puzzle created by the always-astonishing Patrick Berry. He constructs not only meta puzzles but also Rows Gardens, T Squares, Trail Mixes, and many other types of variety puzzles that run in the Saturday Wall Street Journal, as well as his own puzzle "suites." They are masterpieces one and all -- I'm a big fan!

The answer to this week’s contest crossword is an 11-letter word.

EDIT: Solved with a nudge on Oct. 13!
Remember that we hold two Zoom Group Solves each week: Friday at 4:30 p.m. Eastern and "Isaac's Last Call" on Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern. All are welcome, whether you have solved or not. New folks are warmly invited. Just click on the Muggle Zoom Room at the top of this page.

Looks like a toughie. A word of advice from Isaac, who is exempt from Page One Encroachment.
The site is just a web page, a meeting place, a clubhouse - it's the group that's special.

Ashore! A beautiful puzzle! Berry rocks. (And a great, encouraging cameo!)

On shore and first time on page 1! Fell asleep after solving the grid, and awoke with an AHA...Another classic from Patrick!

Thursday solve. Woo-hoo.
Wow and page 1? Cool. Must be something wrong with the interwebs.

On the ship. Based on the title I thought this would be a breeze for me. My bachelor’s degree may be revoked.

Ashore!
And loving it!
I’ve been struggling with metas lately, having to ask for nudges. This one I got on my own, and though it took me nearly four hours of looking in, walking away, coming back, running it by my better half, zapping leftovers, and trying this and trying that … when it finally worked out for me, it was a very satisfying aha.
Thanks, PB!

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been going back and forth for awhile whether to officially join this forum. Often these metas have been out of my league and I felt I just couldn't keep up. When I solved this one quickly tonight - very, very unusual for me - and saw that I could be on page 1, I knew that was a sign to join. First and probably only time I'll ever be on page 1 but I'll take it.

On the beach after significant effort. After 6 hours, I still made page one? Yikes!
