MEOW #144 Face the Music

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

MEOW #144 Face the Music

Even if you are not Bill or Ted you might still have to face the music, and you certainly do in this Wednesday offering. I got a lot of help with this one from Al Sisti, and I think it might be a tad harder than some of my usual offerings. Still, it is quite getable, and I would say it was a Persian or Puma (and no that is not the answer, I would only pull that trick once).

Kitten
Calico
*Persian
*Puma
Lion

There will be Friday Nudges and of course I am always just a PM away.

Cat's out! Fun puzzle, with a nice aha moment. :D
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Just recently rewatched the new-ish B&T. For what it is, it’s a perfectly cromulent film, and of course it hits the nostalgia points for folks my age.

The answer to the meta is what you see from people who cannot face the music.
Well, I suppose that depends on whether you're sitting in the audience or up with the musicians...

Cat is out of the bag! A slight hiccup for me until I remembered a technicality.

Fun and easy one.

I *always* try this metanism for these type of metas and no-one ever actually uses it until now.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

I KNOW! I came up with it after trying it on another one where it did not work.

Thanks for solving

I am hoping to be able to complete the grid during late lunch at work today. In the meantime, I felt compelled to share my Halloween costume from several years ago. :)

Looking forward to published hints on this one… I see the parts but can’t figure out how to interpret the title so I can put it all together! Currently cacophonic.

The cats are out of the bag! (But probably on the couch, because they're cats.)
