"After Six" by Peter & Caroline Abide
Good morning Muggles!
We've had a tough month of challenging metas. It's time for an easier, breezier meta, like the kind you can introduce to a new solver. Speaking of new solvers, I'd like to thank my co-constructor who handled the cluing duties. That would be youngest daughter Caroline, who has a way with words herself.
Conspiracy theorists say there's been a numerical theme running through the Muggles board this weekend:
"Two's Company, Three's a Crowd" (Washington Post) @ebirnholz
"Fourth Wheel" (SSS) @Wendy Walker
"Give Me Five" (POAK) @MikeyG
Let's continue the theme with "After Six"
The meta answer is a six-letter word.
Submit answer by PM or on Crosshare by Saturday at 10pm EST.
Randomly drawn winner will receive the coveted Biloxi pin/pen combo.
Happy solving!

Off the couch.
Lovely puzzle! Well done, team.

Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Definitely after 6, so time to get OTC!!
Interesting and unusual clues- great job Caroline! Hope you’ll give us more with Dad Chelsea ship’s clock
One of my favorites in my collection of old chiming ticking clocks.
It strikes 8 bells at 4,8, and 12 o’clock- then starts starts over at the half-hour.
Just struck 7 bells here.

Easy like Sunday morning, except it’s Monday morning. OTC with the two guys from the other side of the globe and the clock lady! Hello insomnia when you’re about to put an offer on a fixer-upper vacation home with a very old septic system that can’t be fully verified until AFTER due diligence period ….
Enjoyed this diversion and the fresh cluing! Simple but elegant,, with a self-confirming solution word… nice!
Not ashamed to say I knew 15A immediately (and now the earworm…). Then look who shows up a few lines down!
Here was the fun-with-grandkids part of the weekend!

If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)
