Hooked on Metas

#1

Post by Wendy Walker »

Happy Monday, Muggles!

This week’s MMM is a collaboration between Peter Abide and Wendy Walker. The former often reminds the latter how she used to claim she simply didn’t have enough time in her busy schedule to solve any puzzles except the WSJ. Oh, how priorities change!

Thanks for our friend Al Sisti for test-solving and offering excellent suggestions – including pointing out that “Hooked on Metas,” which we were using as a placeholder for the title, was actually a better title than anything we had come up with.

Here’s hoping you enjoy this one. Per protocol we will post a list of solvers, and nudges will be offered on Wednesday. A randomly selected solver will win a suitable prize!

The meta answer is a name.

Off the couch! Took a while to see what needed to be seen, but definitely fun when the click happened!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Elbowed off the couch.

That is: I needed a nudge.

Fun! Thanks, Peter and Wendy!

Off the couch, but only with a couple of nudges. Must be Monday brain or something. Anyway -- thanks for the puzzle you two!

I have no idea of what the answer is

but I am amused that the subject and object of 4D can be reversed.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Two of the wrong submissions are mine :-( I think I have parts of the right idea, but obviously not all of it...

I have a couple of embryonic ideas of how this might go, but it's tenuous at best. Will let it ruminate for a couple of days. I'm hooked!

Always fun when Peter and Wendy team up!
