Welcome to...
benchen71's Metas on a Tuesday (MOAT)
Can you storm the castle by getting across the MOAT? If you will allow me to get political, here's a meta puzzle that speaks to this time of year here in Australia. The answer to the meta is suggested by something that happens three times in the grid.
The easiest way to submit is on Crosshare (and you get instant feedback and unlimited attempts!) But you can also PM me with your submission. Either way, I'll compile a list of those who successfully solve the meta.

January 26th - PUZ
January 26th - PDF
January 26th - spreadsheet
Nudges are here.
The solution is here.

Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!

Great puzzle, even better message. Thanks Ben
I believe 37d may be an incorrect answer?

Oh, I did it again! This puzzle was constructed a while ago, so I clearly mixed the two entries up over an extended period of time!SeamusOL wrote: Tue Jan 24, 2023 12:56 am Great puzzle, even better message. Thanks Ben

OK, so the clue for 37 D now reads "Romance author of "Not My Romeo" fame, ___ Madden-Mills (just trying to get away from "Casablanca")". This is definitely not part of the meta!

Crossed. Stormed. Which is making me uncomfortable, given what I’ve been learning this morning.
Thanks, Ben!
Thanks, Ben!

Needed an assist from Google to verify that my guess was plausible, but moat crossed. Fun and educational, thanks.

If they don't suspend alternate side parking in NYC for it, I pretty much have to use Google. Imagine my surprise to find they have Google way over there on the other side of the world.
