Ashore. Just got home after a 3 hour drive in the snow, so opting for a homemade pomegranate sour ale I call Six Months in Hell.

ON THE SHORE! Completing the grid was harder than finding the meta solution IMHO.

I have heard the word before, so I knew how it was pronounced, but I had no idea what it meant.Wendy Walker wrote: Thu Jan 20, 2022 9:37 pm ... and I didn't know how to pronounce the meta answer or what it means.

Ashore. What a crowd. Nice to be back on shore, though, after what seems a long while.

No, there’s no pattern to the difficulty of the WSJ metas. They do sometimes seem to cluster. That’s probably coincidence but could be the constructors noticing a bunch of too hard/too easy comments and deliberately trying to balance them out.tmk wrote: Thu Jan 20, 2022 8:52 pmi had the same question. i am very new to metas, and honestly, not smart compared to most here. but i knocked this out very quickly. while i'm allowing myself a LITTLE bit of pride, i'm also highly suspicious. can any experienced muggles answer? do the metas get progressively more complex through the calendar year?Miki wrote: Thu Jan 20, 2022 8:46 pm Too easy. The water was not even ankle deep.
What's going on? A friend just ask me if the puzzles are easy in January and get harder towards the end of the year.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Full disclosure, I actually filled out the grid while participating in a video call for work this afternoon. (Camera off, of course
) Had I been paying closer attention to the grid, I would have been on shore much sooner.
I guess shore is shore as long as it’s before deadline! 🏖

Yes, indeedy, on shore. This one is much better than what's actually nearby on Lake Michigan these days. Take a look at the marina webcam - you can see the giant blocks of ice on the breakwater and floating in the harbor.

Ashore! I agree with those who thought the grid was harder than the meta.

Ashore a couple of hours ago but couldn’t get logged in.
Not sure why my system stopped automatically logging me in and wouldn’t accept the password I had been using
.
I used the link for “forgot my password”.
Then I waited and waited and waited.
Finally found Brian Macs response in my Junk Mail!!!
Thanks Brian!

On shore. First couple of passes through the grid were pretty rough this week. But quick swim to the meta.
