I'm with the shore crowd. Thanks, Mike - that was fun!
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Got a late start but quickly ashore. I didn’t have access to a printer, so luckily I was able to solve online.

Too easy. The water was not even ankle deep.

What's going on? A friend just ask me if the puzzles are easy in January and get harder towards the end of the year.

i was in love with the feel of newspapers. then went to digital subscription and printing daily to replicate. got a bit weary of the ink/paper usage. started doing mon, tues, wed online and only printing thurs, fri, sat. but as i got more used to the online version, i now prefer it for all days of the week. it's pretty spiffy once you get the hang of it. works well on iphone and even better on an ipad. for the metas, i screencap the completed grid, then use highlighters/pens from the photo editor. i think i'd still prefer the feel of newspaper, but this has cut down on tech issues and clutter quite a bit.

i had the same question. i am very new to metas, and honestly, not smart compared to most here. but i knocked this out very quickly. while i'm allowing myself a LITTLE bit of pride, i'm also highly suspicious. can any experienced muggles answer? do the metas get progressively more complex through the calendar year?

Well, did the meta just before a 2-hour zoom call, and solved during the call. Not sure that's a great habit to start. :-/

Blanton's please!

Got a very late start but I'm onshore! My circa-2017 phone stopped working this morning, so I got to buy a new one. As the salesman moved everything over to my new phone, he was making small talk, asking me what I had planned for the rest of the afternoon. Well! of course I told him about the crossword contest. He said (a) he had never gotten that answer before and (b) he'd do his best to get everything done by 4 p.m. Alas, it didn't quite work out that way.
BTW, I was an English major and I've been a journalist and copy editor my entire working life -- and I didn't know how to pronounce the meta answer or what it means.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Page 7 already! I will start the grid in the morning. Busy, but fun afternoon. Interesting @Wendy Walker re: pronunciation. Let’s see what unfolds.

Ashore. Thank you Mike.

Club soda with a twist please.

Stay safe all.

(And since we're on page 7+ and it's only Thursday, I'm guessing another crowded beach!)
