Racked up the grid Friday night and felt I spotted the mechanism but waited until Saturday morning before really taking a run at it. Thought I might be behind the eight ball

Ashore after swimming through a school of brightly colored fish.

but right on cue I was able to see the meta before going off the rails by using a little extra English. What a break! Though I still scratch my head over it, I’ll chalk this one up to experience. I massé I had to sink more time into composing my post meta-am (I.e. after meta morning) limerick than I did the solving.

In under the wire thankfully, doubt I’ll get to anymore because of being away. Not even going to try MG on a phone. Maybe when I get back.
This WS had me going for a while, knew what I certainly should be doing but got off on a tangent making Mike trickier than he was actually being.
So ASHORE even if from a foreign shore

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Ashore. Finally saw it this morning. Had the right idea and finally applied it correctly.

We are on shore but perhaps it is a mirage. Can’t wait until the reveal tonight. For now, coffee please.

@Grandma Lolo First welcome to the clan and congratulations on getting your first (of hopefully many) metas.Grandma Lolo wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 10:33 pm I’m ashore for the first time ever! I don’t have long to live so gimme that mug!
Unfortunately if being a grandparent was a prerequisite for winning the mug, you would be in a long line of us waiting. Maybe being a great grandparent would move you forward.
Again, great to have you.

Late start this morning, quick finish. Wished it would have been more complex. Now I am forced to sip prosecco on the lakehouse dock for the rest of the day. That's tough.

Good Sunday morning muggles
First welcome to our newest muggles, Grandma Lolo, Emerson and sjm. Always great to have more muggles. And if you have any questions about a meta or the group. please feel free to ask. And if you want to join any of the Zoom group solves or our Tuesday muggle get together, the link is at the top of the page. Also if you want to set up a solve with one or two others, the link is always open for that also.
And for anyone who has not been here for a Monday holiday, there is no WSJ paper tomorrow. So the official answer will not be available until Tuesday however it will be posted and discussed here after midnight tonight. And Mike Miller will not notify me that I have won the mug until Tuesday (yeah right on that one).
We have had steady movement to shore and now have 16 on the ship and 152 on the shore.
Joining the group partying on the ship are:
Colin

We’re either on shore and boozing or way down a rabbit hole. But I think we’re on shore!

Besides gardening (and metas), my wife and I enjoy doing leaded glass together. The solid chestnut front door on our 1925 Tudor revival home had been painted many years back and the original leaded glass gone.

We are always happy to get to know other muggles and help in any way! PM's are always welcome. The next best thing to winning a mug is helping a fellow muggle win a mug!

Wow, beautiful work! Do you ever watch "The Repair Shop"? It's set in England, in an old barn, and people bring in all sorts of antiques, toys, clocks, teddy bears, etc., to be repaired, and they have an excellent craftsman for each necessary repair. You'd like the the stained glass artisan. I have the hots for -- I mean I respect the artistic talents of -- the leather expert. Awesome show...ship4u wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 2:07 pm Besides gardening (and metas), my wife and I enjoy doing leaded glass together. Good luck from a fellow Janet! I almost gave up, I thought I had the right mechanism, but wasn't getting the answer. A second look, and I realized what I needed to do. I did the crossword Thursday evening, and it was only this morning that I figured it out.Janet P wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 4:37 pm Still aboard, drinking.
But not giving up hope yet.
Optimistic me!
