Ashore. Was almost ashore on the wrong island. Note that the six-word answer scrambles into a very suitable wrong answer. One answer is correct, one is incorrect.

Ashore! Finally got a chance to spend time on it this morning. 1000% sure of the answer
, not at all sure my e-mail entry goes to the right place
. Just answer in subject line, right?

On shore. My first instinct on the mechanism turned out to be correct but I got snookered and chased a few interesting rabbits before going back and seeing the light. Another fun one.

I'm on shore after helpful comments from Cinny and DBMiller. Metanism doesn't entirely make sense to me; perhaps the explanation will clear things up. I know very little about pool, dirty or otherwise.

Got the meta before finishing the grid. Then just gave up on finishing the grid. Didn’t see the point when there were drinks to be had. This round’s on me.

Still on the ship with Isaac, who is pouring me coffee after last night's celebratory wine (explained below). Zooming with the kids last night, we struggled a little with the grid, then only found a couple shallow rabbit holes. Tried a number of other things we thought were clever before they had to sign off.
The "celebration" last night was due to the fact that I just retired and yesterday was my last day. Worked my you-know-what off yesterday, finishing up tasks so they weren't left for others, tying up loose ends, sending files to my successors, and saying final farewells. Then I woke at 2:30 AM this morning, worrying about things I might have forgotten to do, or things to inform/remind those left behind. Lying awake for almost an hour, I suddenly had a brilliant idea about the meta, grabbed the iPad, and spent the next 30 minutes realizing the idea wasn't getting me anywhere.
So, given I had a few hours of fretful tossing and turning, Isaac's coffee is much needed. Maybe inspiration will hit, as others have reported.

Wish I'd seen the demo! I recently acquired a 3.5' x 7' pool table with the house we purchased in the Poconos. And I used to own a full-size table. Never would have even tried that shot given the potential to damage the felt and/or slate. Not to mention how hard it is. Though I've seen video of famous players like Willie Mosconi make it.ship4u wrote: Fri May 27, 2022 7:42 pm Another great zoom session today. Thanks to everyone who participated. I really enjoy meeting the group in person and it is a great learning experience for all. Thanks to @Wendy Walker for her guidance and thoughtful monitoring. Also, thanks to @DBMiller for demonstrating the masse pool shot!
I used to own a couple of cues that were my grandfather's. A judge by profession, he was apparently quite good at 2 cushion billiards, (or possibly 3 cushion), and once had a run of something like 130 points in a single run. (Or so my father reported many years ago.) He would go up against professional players when they were visiting his billiard club. Unfortunately, he died before my parents ever met, so I never knew him or, alas, got to see him play.
Note: Since I am still with Isaac, I have no idea whether I mentioned any spoilers above.

Happy retirement, @HunterX! That's the dream. I hope you sleep better tonight realizing there is no way to remember everything your former coworkers and successors might need to know. They'll figure it out.

Count me ashore! Was lost at sea yesterday, like many others I was overcomplicating this. Once the right idea struck it was a quick swim to shore. It is indeed a really clever mechanism.
To avoid spoilers I’ll refrain from any further comments until Monday!

Ashore.
Similar to others, my first idea was better than my later clever ones which I was sure were going to be correct.
Re-read my earliest notes and a possible back-solve jumped out at me.
I’ll be heading to a (hopefully clean!) pool this weekend in my neighborhood to enjoy my drink ashore.
