Thanks to my better half for asking whether I looked at a certain something. I had but did so on Thursday night. I looked again and then…AHA!!

Pretty cool. I like some of the archaic words, such as 9D.

But I have to point out that the website is kind of quirky. It doesn't skip over the letters already filled in, or jump to the next clue when you complete an answer. Those crossword web apps sure were different back in 1917! Glad our websites work better today in the 2020's.

Glad you found it. Yes, I recall back in the day, when it was first published, I had difficulty finding a telephonic machine on which to play it.

I have stared at this thing off and on all weekend when I had a spare moment. Finally, I saw what I had been missing all along! I was almost ready to resort to asking Mr. Hidden to take a look at it, knowing full well that he would have looked at me like I had lost my mind. Thank goodness it didn't come to that!

Yes, and I used to live in a Thomas Edison town, not a Westinghouse town. So we had to use apps that ran on direct current, not the fancy-pants alternating current. Those guys had much better telephonic apps....

Ashore, and very late in the game. On a busy weekend, I didn't get to it until Sunday evening -- almost gave up. I relearned the lesson that looking at a puzzle, while sometimes seeming endlessly futile, can actually be laying in the mind a foundation for the "happen to notice" moment that is a feature of many of my successes. I happened to notice something that I never would have seen if I were relying on a casual glance. Keep. On. Looking. It's there.
