I took that picture a while ago. But for those who are interested, here's the update from this morning.

The site is just a web page, a meeting place, a clubhouse - it's the group that's special.

Ashore but bruised and bedraggled in the process.
Chased a few rabbit holes so deeply only to find dead ends - I didn’t think I would make it.
The last rabbit hole quickly turned back to the surface - right on the beach

Ashore!! Week nine is mine!
Thanks to my better half for asking whether I looked at a certain something. I had but did so on Thursday night. I looked again and then…AHA!!

Glad you found it. Yes, I recall back in the day, when it was first published, I had difficulty finding a telephonic machine on which to play it.HunterX wrote: Sun Mar 06, 2022 6:06 pmPretty cool. I like some of the archaic words, such as 9D.Commodore wrote: Sun Mar 06, 2022 5:06 pm

But I have to point out that the website is kind of quirky. It doesn't skip over the letters already filled in, or jump to the next clue when you complete an answer. Those crossword web apps sure were different back in 1917! Glad our websites work better today in the 2020's.

I have stared at this thing off and on all weekend when I had a spare moment. Finally, I saw what I had been missing all along! I was almost ready to resort to asking Mr. Hidden to take a look at it, knowing full well that he would have looked at me like I had lost my mind. Thank goodness it didn't come to that!

On shore.
I thought I knew the mechanism, but didn’t really look at it too closely earlier today. Sat down now and found it pretty quickly., thank goodness.

Yes, and I used to live in a Thomas Edison town, not a Westinghouse town. So we had to use apps that ran on direct current, not the fancy-pants alternating current. Those guys had much better telephonic apps....Commodore wrote: Sun Mar 06, 2022 8:09 pmGlad you found it. Well I’ve been dragged ashore with the help of some muggles. Can’t submit, but I can finally move onto other more, umm, productive pursuits - like laundry and quordle.

Like Dieppe, the Canucks are ashore. It weren't pretty, but this time we're staying.
For nudges, feel free to PM me. I won't have a clue how to help you, but you might shove me ashore.

Submitted, but not with 100 percent confidence. For you Wordle lovers, a comparison of Wordle letter frequency with typical English frequency.

Ashore, and very late in the game. On a busy weekend, I didn't get to it until Sunday evening -- almost gave up. I relearned the lesson that looking at a puzzle, while sometimes seeming endlessly futile, can actually be laying in the mind a foundation for the "happen to notice" moment that is a feature of many of my successes. I happened to notice something that I never would have seen if I were relying on a casual glance. Keep. On. Looking. It's there.

Need a late game nudge! I think I’m 50% of the way, but just am stuck. Thanks for any help!

Got an eleventh-hour nudge - ashore! - but the tiki bar appears to be closed for the night… oh well.
