Got it! I'll admit, I spent an hour on it before I met a friend for a dinner date, and then I needed another half hour with it when I got home. The good news is, I guess, that I got the drinking out of the way between looks at the puzzle. Another outstanding puzzle, Mr. Gaffney, and, for me, just the right balance of difficulty and enjoyment! Thanks again!

Back in the saddle and ashore after last week’s brain block. Make it a Manhattan with Maker’s Mark please.

I guess this is what I get for complaining about last weeks.

There must be something here...... I had many excuses for not getting to it in a timely manner (wife wanted to play bird game; cat walked on the keyboard and my puzzle was all Bs) but the truth is I'm just overlooking something.
GUAVA is not an anagram of VAGUE and PEPPER is not a palindrome.

Ashore. Sipping a gin and tonic which, let's be honest, is really mostly gin.

Morning enlightenment here. Was entertaining some family last evening (must say, an exceedingly juicy and tasty slab of baked salmon and big sheet pan of roasted broccolini/tomatoes/feta/lemon… !). So after all that I printed the puzzle and retired, then fell asleep completing the grid. Finished the grId this morning, and in the midst of exploring several very fruitful-looking rabbit holes, one of those bunnies whacked me over the head with a large carrot and said “look! Over there, you dummy!” Uh HUH, there it is. Way simpler than chasing you dumb bunnies.

On shore, but I’ll just finish this steaming mug o’coffee.

Concerned for our friends in Ukraine… you who have loved ones there, here’s hoping with you that they are safe today. This world is plagued with crazy despots.

Ashore. Certainly a record time for me: 45 minutes from start to finish late last night. Now what will I do with the rest of the weekend?

Lots of ice on the trees here in Northern Maryland. Hoping the weather is good Tuesday for a trip to Central Pennsylvania to celebrate Doughnut Day with the family.

I learn great stuff here!
(And certainly, learning something that gives me an excuse to have a donut is great!)

I'm ashore. went pretty spiffily (is that a word?) - grid done and solved while eating a single bowl of cereal this morning. i guess this early in the day I should go for a Mimosa.
