I am on the shore,
Been here before, but at least
I am on the shore!
One world. One planet. One future.

...that feeling when you know you really should be getting the Meta, but you're not, and you're thinking you're an idiot, but you keep staring at the dratted thing because you're nothing if not stubborn, and your spouse/significant other is laughing at you, but you'll show them, oh yes, YOU'LL SHOW THEM...

(Or in Muggle shorthand: "Hanging out with Isaac.") :D

not sure who isaac is (still new-ish here), but i'm right there with you guys. i had the grid DONE by 2:25pm Mtn time on THURSDAY and i thought for sure i could make it onto the coveted page 1. or even page 2. but alas. here we are on saturday and i'm still lost in the deep sea. missed the group solve friday afternoon (if there was one?) so im just bobbing around out here with neither compass nor charts.

You may not see Isaac at the left of this site's banner, if you only access this site via your phone. Isaac is Your Ship's Bartender.

(In this post, click on Isaac's photo or link. I dare you.)

I had the "trick" very early on but darned if I could put it together. Turns out I put it together very early on but just did not see it. It is incredibly frustrating when I do that, but then just as incredibly delightful when I do the DOH head-slap and see the light! Count me ashore please.

I'd put "Keeps missing the Obvious" on my list of things I hate, except that list already includes:

1. Lists
2. Irony
3. Lists
4. Repetition
E. Inconsistency
You hate irony? I love irony.

Definitely beats the alternative.

I didn't always hate it, it used to be tinny, but then I got a call from Tim. So I switched to Steely, but that seemed to upset Dan. Finally I changed to Irony because I thought that would be fairer (in the end though it turned out to be ferric). Gosh, I do love the Punic wars!

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Have stared off and on several times over the past few days but don't even have a starting place. So probably just going to sample any new offerings Isaac has to offer.
Check out this very cool project by many of your favorite muggles to raise money to fight cancer. You get a fun puzzle bundle and good causes get $. Win-win: Crosswords for Cancer

Reaction Friday: Any time a page 1-3 muggle writes "fantastic" or "great construction" or "amazing" it's wordplay for "you're never going to solve this in a million years so be happy sitting at the bar with Isaac."

Reaction Saturday: Thank you Mike for another brilliantly constructed puzzle, and it's our first Saturday solve.

Enjoying the sand with the rest of y'all. Dry January is over, but I'm kinda extending for a bit, so once more a sparkling water with a twist.

Stay safe.

There are lots of other metas to do while you wait:

1. MMM - Muggle Meta Mondays
2. MOAT - Metas On A Tuesday (I construct these)
3. MEOW - Madhatter's Enigma on Wednesdays

Plenty of metas for you to get stuck into while waiting for WSJ Friday to roll back around!
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta! :D
