Thanks let's pretend I got it based on that. Oh look! A pretend mug!woozy wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 1:05 pmMiki wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 5:18 am For those who need it, study your basketball terminology here.
Everything from Air ball to Zone defense:
https://basketball.epicsports.com/baske ... ssary.htmlI'd like to respond to these, but even the most benign and innocuous of remarks can be a hint.
Let's pretend I said something very very encouraging.

Well, I stumbled onto some dry land, but this probably isn't the right shore. There's no mail delivery here..

For those who saw the zoom call but are new. We use the normal Tuesday zoom link above. It is open to all. No meeting ID is needed. If you have any questions, PM me.

Well ashore, but since i got a nudge I won't submit. Clever, and interestingly enough the answer was something I tried to force earlier but gave up on because it did not seem to make sense (I'll explain my rationale later if anyone is interested). I even thought the mechanism was what it ended up being, but I was looking with a pre-set idea and that is never a good idea.
Thanks to my nudger (you know who you are)
Now with the MGWCC and WSJ maybe I'll get something done this WE! (though I doubt it because this puzzle has given me an idea for my own!)

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Sherlock Holmes ' law:
When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
Barbara's corollary:
The hard part is tearing your eyes away from all those impossible rabbit holes so you can see the improbable answer.

What's the etiquette with this? I've already solved; is it OK to attend just to listen? It's so interesting hearing everyone's rabbit holes.Abide wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 10:52 am Based on my survey, and at least 70 people with Isaac, I will be in the zoom room at 4 PM Eastern today for further analysis of this toughie.

I’m from Virginia originally (Shenandoah Valley) and have owned two precious Shelties like the one in your avatar. Wonder what else we have in common, beside metas!m (for now I don’t have the beach in common… I’m still drifting at sea, scratching my head…).jenirvin wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 10:23 am Been a while since I've been on this cruise with y'all. Happy to say I'm on the beach, ready to be rid of the Virginia snow.

My lack of basketball knowledge is surely impeding my way to the shore - heading off to Isaac's for another round.

Lost at sea and working without a hard copy. Trying to solve on my phone is proving difficult. Snow is turning to rain in this Idaho mountain town and the roof is leaking!
But, not to worry, the disaster response team is here so, Isaac, I’ll have another, and just keep trying to find the way into the meta. I just might join you all on zoom.

If this answer is not the correct answer, it should be counted as one. It’s Friday afternoon and I am submitting
this Shenkian mischief to WSJ and to my love of the Hazy IPA.
No idea if I’m right but count me ashore and I will
Take that swim of shame Sunday at midnight and confess I was wrong before all.

Pretty sure of my answer - - not to mix sports, but I don't think it's a Hail Mary.

Onshore. I think my boredom with modern day basketball might have added to my laziness in finding the answer. However, in retrospect, I always did admire Goose Tatum and loved watching his antics with the Harlem Globetrotters as a youngster.
