Think of it this way. If you flip a fair coin, you will have a 50% chance of it coming up heads. But if you flip the coin 10 times, the odds are far greater that you will come up with heads at least once. That probability is 1 - (.5)^10, or 99.9% probability that there will be at least one head in 10 flips.

I’m amazed that this is free. It’s a highlight of my week to grapple with these ingenious challenges. Terrific, difficult puzzle. Cheers and have a good weekend all.

On shore. My head hurts, perhaps from having to think so hard, or perhaps from smacking myself when I realized I was making a really dumb mistake. Does anyone know how long--on the average if there is one--that it takes for a constructor to create these meta crossword puzzles?

Finished the grid yesterday. Keeping company with Isaac and others in my usual corner stool. Alas, given that I've already tried all my usual machinations for this one, I'm losing hope of ever reaching shore. Tomorrow's another day...

So what’s worse? Having a cap fall out while away for a three day vacation or getting the grid but LAS on the meta?

We made it ashore! Lots of back and forth on this one. Finally we took a walk to refresh. Decided to try one more time before going to bed and we made it! Another fun week.

Thanks to a confirmation from @boharr that I was on the right track, I finally made it ashore. Very clever puzzle. Time for a shot of Zwack.

I am missing the entire thing. I have no idea what's going on here. I'd appreciate any direction. Thank you!

Toes in the sand.
I Really had to muscle through that one - just how I like ‘em! (at least when I can solve them)
Beautifully tricksy!

And to confirm, we are ashore!

I really really hate to say it, but I’m going to need a nudge...I’ve spent so long staring and trying different things. Since this is only my fourth puzzle I went back through archives looking for some inspiration. Tried about a dozen more things and still nothing. My puzzling notebook looks like a pen crime scene at this point

Sprinted to the 3/4 pole. Checking compass headings with a gent named "Isaac". Good fellow! I shall enjoy his company this day.

For nudges, feel free to PM me. I won't have a clue how to help you, but you might shove me ashore.
