Bob--I made it to shore yesterday.
On another note, I was doing last Sunday's crossword from the Chicago Trib (I'm a little behind since I spent so much time trying--and failing--to solve last week's meta). 76D was Vocalist Sumac. Thanks to all the discussions here, I knew that answer right away.

Gee, I was having so much fun solving and then boom! What’re we missing guys? I think I’ve got one too many letters.

I haven't seen a post from Bird Lives this week - perhaps he's taking the weekend off for his centennial?
Two articles in WSJ this week in honor of the event:

Wow, thanks for that.Laura M wrote: Thu Aug 27, 2020 6:34 pm By the way: Anyone else get an earworm from the title? My kid was 4 or 5 when High School Musical became hugely popular with the preschool set, and I must have heard the soundtrack hundreds of times. (The song actually has "All" in the title, but close enough!)

See the store of useless information we get from doing metas - you can thank Matt Gaffney for helping you with that (March 1 2019 contest)
Another on the list of "famous" or "well-known" meta answers

Not seeing it. As I noted yesterday, I could be stuck on a diversion. Anyone willing to confirm (or not) approach, please PM me!

EDIT: ON SHORE. Clarified the last piece of the puzzle.
Don't count me on shore yet as I need to finish this one off. At least I have a Hail Mary if needed tomorrow.

Whew! We - oh, did I happen to leave the puzzle on the counter again? - are on shore! Team effort but I did resort to google for some help along the way.
Matt, terrific construction!

Ugh, I have swum 2/3 of the way to shore but I don't think I'm going to make it all the way in.

Keep looking. You may be stuck in the same place I was, and I finally found my path to shore. I usually spot these things in the morning after a cup of coffee.Kaille wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2020 4:08 pm Ugh, I have swum 2/3 of the way to shore but I don't think I'm going to make it all the way in.

Swimming here! I thought I had steps one and two figured out, but can't make any sense of them and am now beginning to doubt after reading through comments...is the "obvious" path the right one?

The obvious path is right, it's just longer than you expect.wordsmith wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2020 4:23 pm Swimming here! I thought I had steps one and two figured out, but can't make any sense of them and am now beginning to doubt after reading through comments...is the "obvious" path the right one?

Hello all! I was wondering if I could check with one of you that I’m on the right track. I don’t want a hint, just a yes or no. I think I’m most of the way there but I got stuck, so now I have doubts.

This was in Denver. The artist is Kelsey Montague, a local treasure. She paints murals like this all over the country, and all over the world!
