Good lord - finally realized the error of my ways. Turns out the inelegance was actually a masterful mid-paddle herring. Pour me a double good sir and get that gaffney dude one on me, too.

OMG! A fellow Muggle just pointed out the absolute elegance of this META. I had no idea until doing some Mr. G work. It's official, Gaffney is a genius!

I have been spending this week finishing writing an OER textbook for a tech math class, but 33D was new to me.

I was about to post that I have a gibberish anagram of a name, but then I realized mid-post that I misidentified one part of the answer, and now I have a name that makes sense. Mid-post enlightenment!

I haven't used 72A, but I'll take another look before going back to the textbook (and, more importantly, before submitting).

Update: it took about 90 seconds to crack the 72A clue.

Gosh Sal, does "rest" include METAS? If so then each week you give yourself an admirable handicap. I might be able to convince the Archbishop of Canterbury to grant dispensation, but then that probably would have little sway with an observant Jew. Shalom my friend!

OH NO, Boston, I cannot Bear to look, you'll be the Bruination of all of us! Guess I'll just have to take a Flyer and maybe watch the Netflix series Ranger Things (the temptation to do a word play with hockey puck is great but caution and good taste prevail - besides I don't want to be censored)

ASHORE. Got the first step really quickly, but then made an error that sidetracked me for a while. Glad to finally be here.

Not sure what I will do all weekend on shore. What an unusual feeling of late.

If is what many of us have found it might have been an error that was more an inelegance in the puzzle than an error on your part.

On shore at last, darn rabbit holes! I misapplied 72a because even though it told me what to do, I did something completely different. Got myself turned around and finished it off. That CLICK! of confirmation. With this out of the way that leaves some time this weekend to work on the mega meta for MMMM. Solved it last year, found the red herring this year, but just can't discern the right path this year. I go from "Oh, oh, oh!" to "Oh,oh, nooooo!"

Bold words. Funny, I didn't end my bold text because I couldn't remember whether it was [ /b ] or [ \b ] and I figured "Ah, what does it matter, it's not going to cause any trouble." ;)

I was just about to wave the white flag when it hit me like Scott Stevens, five seconds after I got rid of the puck in the neutral zone.

I'll take a pot of Maxwell House, no cream no sugar. My 4-year old twins and my 2-year old son are running out of Daniel Tiger episodes to watch on PBS Kids and dad needs a pick-me-up. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Made it to shore, after a few false steps. I find that putting the puzzle aside for a few hours and coming back to it fresh seems to work for me.
