A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

There you go, kitty!
With a late, but quick solve of the WSJ under my belt, I was able to double back and free the poor feline from all those bugs.
Like others I was bugged by a few distractions and wrong turns, but got it all lined up this morning.
I'm glad you did not go off piste and got back on the blue (well maybe green) slope. Thanks for solving.

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.
Perhaps people are still trying to find an empty spot on the WSJ beach - good luck, there will be a crowd. Why not just pick a nice secluded spot like the MEOW beach? I mean sure there is a lot of litter in places (mainly old, discarded bags) but there are LOTS of friendly cats!!!

Well, some of us did try it, found some things, then found some other things but not enough. At this point I don't think the nudges will help, because I'm pretty sure I know what step 2 is but I'm just failing at doing it.
Edit: Never mind; I found what I was looking for!
I don't have anything clever to say, but if I did, it would go here.

Well we managed to make 50, I always consider that a good response:

This was almost a direct steal from a Connections and I thought, well that should be easy to do. Turns out it wasn't and finding the alternatives was hard. I particularly liked "An undesirable Swift resident" = YAHOO because if anyone has ever dealt with roaches (or palmetto bugs as they called in the South in an attempt to make them more acceptable) they are both undesirable and swift.
At any rate, I got 50 solvers and a lot of nice comments, so thanks to you all. This weeks will be more challenging but I hope still fun.

In looking this over I realize I never posted nudges! I am sorry for the oversight, I'm going to chalk it up to having two puzzles this week (the SSS) and getting tied up with it. It appears as if none were needed, but they were ready had they been (yeah fat lot of good it did everyone):
As they often do my Titles play double duty!
I can often find errors in my puzzles but can you find bugs?
When the light comes on, so you can see the bugs of course, it gives them a whole new meaning.
That meaning is probably a way to solve the meta.
