MEOW #224 Rock Band

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

The cat is out, but not before peeking at nudges.

OMG that is brilliant, Ben! Like Wendy, I wish I could have seen it without the nudges. And it's even a band I've heard of, haha. Thanks for a very creative and nicely implemented meta!

@KayW
Your post had me take another look -- Maybe I would know this band too after all!
And sure enough, though the verdict rests in Aussie, I'm pretty certain I have it now.
Very clever and cute!
Thanks, Ben!

We're up to 22 now.
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta! :D

Solved Wednesday (pre-nudges but did collaborate), forgot to post… really enjoy these marching band puzzles, Ben, and the answer was quite the chef’s kiss!

That brings us up to 29. Last solver update will be just before the answer reveal in about 24 hours. (It's a day early because I will be heading out on a school camp: canoeing down the Murray River for 4 days!)

No further solvers, so here's the solution to "Rock Band":

Rock Band (solution).png

"Rock Lobster" was a hit here in Australia. But "Love Shack" was the biggest US hit for this band:
