DaveWa wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 6:15 pm I am also ashore and donated blood this morning. Seems a bit surprising to have three Muggles donating blood this week when only 3% of eligible individuals donate. There must be a story there somewhere. Our local blood bank is having an "All Seasons" blood drive and will be giving puffer vests to everyone who donates at least one pint of blood in each of the four seasons this year. The vest will arrive too late for the bitter cold we're having this week but maybe it will come in handy next year! No alcohol for 24 hours so I'll stick to hot cocoa tonight.

My first platelet session, however, is on Monday. As one of the worldโs slowest readers, I am looking forward to making a dent in The Splendid And The Vile by Erik Larsonโฆ gripping account of Churchill and the Battle of Britain. One heck of a โtense situationโ that should (hopefully) keep me awake!
Love your post-donation protocol. Dunkel is always the best medicine.Aaron wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 9:18 pm I'll order a German Dunkel tomorrow at a suitable establishment. And drink more fluids tonight.
Whole blood, platelets, or plasma: Keep'em alive! Donate 5 in 2025.

Finally was able to get around to the puzzle this morning... safely ashore, but I think I'll stick with coffee now.

This NC Tar Heel is ashore! Love this one! Very clever! I feel like this week's Meta and Grid was composed with this group in mind! Thanks Matt!

REMINDER: All are welcome to join us for our weekly Friday Zoom today at 4:30 pm Eastern time. If you are feeling in a "tense situation", some interaction with muggle friends is certain to be the remedy! Since we are already on page 9, I suspect many Zoomers will be playing Beach Party Bingo. We will help anyone who is having difficulty finding the correct path to shore!
Click on the Muggle Zoom Room tab at the top of the page to join us. Hope to see you there!

We are always happy to get to know other muggles and help in any way! PM's are always welcome. The next best thing to winning a mug is helping a fellow muggle win a mug!

Tim got us ashore in a solo swim before Iโd even opened the puzzle. Weโll have something brewed by Shepherd Neame.

Hey, I was donating blood too! Although, I was cheering for CanadaAaron wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 9:18 pm On shore. Did some of the grid while donating blood. Finished grid during hockey game, by which time I had seen the way to shore. While rooting for the USA to beat Canada again, I'll order a German Dunkel tomorrow at a suitable establishment. And drink more fluids tonight.

Arrived ashore! Three pints of water for me.

On shore before finishing the grid like many Muggles. Nice to have one of these.
