We're at 4 hours now, with 1:45 more last night. I see something that can't not be relevant, but as to where it goes, any initial attempts lead nowhere. I'll keep steering the ship, iced coffee in hand (I have a stash).

Anyone who got the first page on this, I tip my invisible hat to you!

Ashore. Tried to way overthink this one like some others. Of course, it didn’t help that I spelled a Greek letter wrong. I’d be shamed by my fraternity brothers. Anyway, G&T for lunch!

Is what I'm now possibly thinking really it? All other avenues are dead ends, so I'm going to call it at 4:18.32 and hope that's it, haha.

Edit: Told my answer is not correct, but at least my weekend is free!

Edit #2: By complete coincidence, my answer happens to be the "lesser" answer (which is pretty tenuous in my book but we'll see). Was slightly nudged toward the path last night after my incorrect submission. Great construction!

The answer to this week’s contest crossword is a one-syllable part of the body.

Tight Spots Excel File
SAVE to your drive.
OPEN from your drive.
ALLOW permissions.

Good luck with the meta and the grid.

Please note that there will be no WSJ published on Monday January 20 due to Martin Luther King Day however the contest deadline remains at 11:59 PM on Sunday. The answer will be posted here after the time the contest closes.
Anyone else having issues with the excel download? Specifically, 49A on my excel has a black (gray) box in the 3rd cell. And then 50 down is in the wrong place, setting all the subsequent clue numbers off by one. I'm working around it.

The coast guard once again brought me to shore. However I can see two very logical shores that I could make a case for - especially for nonmedical types.

Good Friday afternoon.

An interesting meta from Mike which will draw discussion like last week's did. So far we have 4 on the ship, 68 on the shore and many more roaming the bilges and closets of the ship.

Sorry for the issues with the Excel spreadsheet! It has been corrected and the link in Post #1 connects to the corrected file.

I came up with an answer last night and then slept on it. Submitted this morning and know I’m on A beach. Is it THE beach? Guess I’ll find out in an hour.

Grandkids here (yay!!) so not a lot of time to look but it just hit me all of a sudden. Not sure if anybody has commented on potential ambiguity in the answer, haven't had time to read all the comments. I am ashore I think.

Stay well

I think I'm at the right beach after a nudge/group solve. I guess I'll drop my anchor and wait here until Monday to see!

I'm pretty sure I see what you mean. I have a reason for why I went with this answer instead of another, but I've been wrong before!

Puzzle Buddy Jane came up with an idea that led to a solution. We are ashore and awaiting our adult beverages form the cabana boy. Winter Solstice Ale from AVBC for me. Chilled wine for Jane.

I have AN answer I can explain, but some people say there is more than one possible.
