On shore after a quick aha moment. Was able to finish the grid and the solution while still in the office, which is rare. Looking forward to the Notre Dame-PSU game tonight while sipping (or chugging) Hulk Hogan’s new Real American Beer. Expectations are low so hope to be surprised.

Ashore probably. If so, I think the puzzle would have been better with a different answer and prompt.

Update: After a careful rereading and exegesis, I have concluded that
1. My first impulse was wrong.
2. I'm glad I did not yet submit it.
3. There's gonna be a lot of Pageantic grumbling when the answer comes out (unless Matt and Mike decide to be broad-minded).
