Traveling abroad (not in a 5-letter country) - did the grid but fell asleep before I could crack the meta. The metanism came to me in the shower this morning! Nice one.

I'm part way there from what I think the puzzle title implies, but stuck. Anyone want to DM me with a nudge?

Ashore. I didn't think there would be so many people ashore this quickly with this one.

Needed a slight nudge to confirm my path. Safely on the theoretical shore.

IRL, sitting on a boat on the Rhine River in Cologne Germany. Cologne walking tour this morning was nice. The main Cathedral here is huge and awe-inspiring.

Tonight, a bit of bar hopping trying out the different local Kolsch beers and then a German dinner.

Marksburg castle tomorrow morning and then river cruising in the afternoon. Plenty of time to work on Gaffney.

Ashore!
Finally got around to doing something I should have done when I discovered step 1.
Better late than never. And it looks like there's still space at the beach.
I'm still at school, so I'll toast with a nice glass of apple cider.
Bespoke nudges available upon request (if I'm on shore, off the couch, in the castle, petting an un-bagged cat, ...).
Let me know how small or large a hint you want, or hit me with a specific question(s).

Ashore. Always satisfying to solve a Gaffney. Weekend is mine!

Ashore. That was great. I really enjoyed it while having my cup of Irish Breakfast tea.

I had to STRUGGLE with each step (after concluding one, I'd say "Okay... NOW what?"), but after an AHA moment in the shower, I'm ON SHORE

We are but mere lobsters in boiling water. Matt and Mike keep turning up the heat and we happily swim in it. I bet 5 years ago none of us would have even know where to start. Now we all know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it.

Happily ashore. Kudos to anyone who could solve this without googling

After nine years of Sporcle, I know my countries cold. I'm still a little shaky on the capitals, although I did once finally get 100% on the capitals quiz, and my vexillological identification skills are sorely lacking.
I don't have anything clever to say, but if I did, it would go here.

Well, I've been trying. I found a promising path that I thought would surely lead to that glorious click, but I ended up with gibberish.

So now I have a choice: try something new, or establish the country of Nwagi before Sunday night.

Set 'em up, Isaac! 🤔

Good Friday morning muggles

A very clever construction from Matt. I always wonder how many wrong turns he made before getting the right one.

So far we have 2 on the ship and 109 on the shore.

And don't forget the 4:30 zoom solving session today.

Whew... Ashore. Gaffney puzzles sometimes trip me up, and this nearly did... Wasn't sure how to take step one of the solve and move it on to find the answer. But, finally, I saw it hiding there... Happy Friday to you all! To celebrate completing another week, I'll relax under an umbrella, watching the tide, and enjoying a nice traditional marg. 2oz Don Julio, 1oz Cointreau, juice of half a lime, and a small squeeze of blue agave (for the first one... subsequent drinks don't need the sweet).

See you on the zoom!
If you see me on the beach, feel free to pm for a nudge. After all the help I’ve got, I am happy to send it forward when I can!
