Welp, I'm on the shore. I'll share my wayward journey after the puzzle closes. Needless to say, it made SOOOOOOO much sense!

Ashore with a solo solve!
Feeling proud, since pretty much all of my football knowledge involves knowing what a football looks like..

Ashore with help from @mattythewsjpuzzler.
Of course I made it much harder than it had to be and my husband actually had the answer written down(!) but it didn’t register.

Not at all in my wheelhouse. Suddenly it dawned on me - success!

My hubby & I are attending the Los Angeles fundraising gala tomorrow for Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), the leading global organization for advocacy and funding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. My beautiful granddaughter was diagnosed last year at age 3. A very worthwhile charity!

Happy weekend everyone!

Cheers!

Thank goodness... I'm clambering onto the shore from my life raft, soaked to the skin. Still embarrassed to be late to the party, so I'll huddle by the fire with some hot tea for now, thank you.

I did guess the answer in a delirium while drifting, but I now have the click as well.

I barely know what NFL stands for. When my husband told me theme I groaned. And yet, here I am. I’ll have that beer.

Susan Goldberg wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 6:14 pm I really don’t know why I can’t get this. I know a lot about football since it was my primary bonding mechanism with my son. But still, nothing.
I think that knowing a lot about the subject is often more hindrance than help with metas. When you know a lot, you can find rabbit holes everywhere. When you know almost nothing, you see one little thing that maybe rings a bell and tells you what to google. Which is how I found myself on shore.

On shore I think, although I feel there are some confounding elements that make this one less clean than others. Or maybe I just got it wrong... Anyway I'll take my beer whether I deserve it or not.

Had the first step, but needed a nudge from Don to get to shore. Sticking with black coffee.
