MEOW #195 I Want My Quarter Back

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

Also, tabs over spaces and vi over emacs.
If you like Rows Gardens check out my mini ones here: viewforum.php?f=41. Nudges are free on the off chance I’ve solved the meta.

:crossed_swords: :rabbit: :cat: Cats out of the bag - I'm always relieved when I can "re-solve" a puzzle I solved more than a week ago.
Thanks for the fun!

Fun the second time. LOVE solve metas I have test solved. It is great to see the changes and I love how the entries sometimes but not always pop into my head.

Cat's out of the bag. Fun puzzle -- a timely reminder with some quite a few fine clues.

Well, if you remember, you caught the "fatal flaw" in this one. Would have been a nightmare without that observation!

I knew this felt familiar……..since I was a test solver. At least I’m consistent. I went down the same tunnels trying to find that cat. Outta the bag!

Phew, needed a little time away to see what I needed and help the cat stumble its way out of the bag.

I HATE it when I get so wrapped up in other things and puzzles that I forget somehting, and this week I forgot ...

NUDGES:

Despite my efforts to hide it, the title of the puzzle SCREAMS sports

I know when puzzles scream sports some puzzlers just scream, but this is pretty easy for a sports puzzle because team names are hard to disguise

There are 6 team names badly disguised as other things...prospective Californians indeed!

Once you have the 6 teams, you have already been told what I want.

Perhaps this will stimulate some last minute solvers because this puzzle started well and then fizzled out about 35+ solvers in.

I always hope for more of course but I do appreciate all those who did solve. Now for those of you who passed on the quarterback, here is the reveal:

You get a MEOAT tomorrow since Ben has kindly offered to give us a puzzle. I haven't seen it yet but you KNOW it will be fun.

I had a "surely he can't expect me to want to look up the teams' quarterbacks". Well, better try. Somehow I thought teams would have multiple quarterbacks (and the site where I got the Rams did list about 5). Looked them up and it worked.

Dr., you would have had an even 40 had I remembered to submit. :/

It's the thought that counts, well not actually "counts" but it means somehting to me that you solved.
