Nice smooth sail to shore. Fun puzzle. Getting some Mike Shenk love for our profession in the 33D clue - Awesome! Feeling like a little Ace Pineapple Cider to cool off from the hot weather.

Ashore yesterday.
Something made me doubt that I had the "correct" answer. Somehow PAGEANT crossed my mind, but that's seven letters.
Thanks to the Zoom Room crew and especially Wendy for the explanation.

Great Zoom Session!!! Wonderful to see everyone. I was asked if I owned a certain sports car and I've actually owned 2 of them.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Natasha had it right away. We are elbowing our way on shore now. Glad that's done - our daughter is 15 today, and with as many friends in the pool, we'll enjoy an appropriate adult beverage at the adult afterparty.

You are almost certainly over complicating it.DrTom wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2024 2:57 pm Good grief! Last week nothing, this week I am not even sure why 56A is 56A. I just hate it when the cheesy ones escape me completely.
And it’s a good reminder of why we don’t use the E-word around here. No matter how many get it quickly, there are always some, even some really good solvers, who just don’t see it.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

I am GREen with envy for those who found the pATH more quickly than I did--and I tried to go fast! At least I won't be wORN out with endless rabbit holes and rEDOing my grid trying to find the answer. I'm guessing that the muggles will be packed cheek by joWL at the tiki bar this weekend.

When I was thinking of a bird for this week, I was surprised to see that I hadn't used Great-horned Owl before. But I double-checked my spreadsheet (yes, my meta statistics spreadsheet has a column for the bird of the week!Susan Goldberg wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2024 6:22 pmI feel Ike you’ve used Great Horned Owl before!!LadyBird wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2024 4:24 pm Ashore and missed page one again!

And here is a pic of some Great-horned Owlets at the wildlife hospital I volunteer at. They really click their beaks at you when you go into their cage!
