They may be cursing you tomorrow

A Grief Observed, A Sudden Fearful Death, an author who smashed her friend's mother's head in with a brick -- what a nice way to start Sunday morning. But solving the meta (sans nudge) makes it all worthwhile.
Can't wait till tomorrow.

Well turns out our Wendy has knit together quite a pleasant Meta...OK, you are hooked now, admit it. You are already thinking about your next one. Very enjoyable and cleverly constructed.
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Solved - thanks, Wendy - great solo debut. I learned (re-learned? Never learned?) a valuable lesson - always double check your work! I was on the right track but using the wrong input. Got there eventually
Contest Crosswords Combating Cancer (CCCC) is a bundle of 16 contest-style (meta) crosswords that we've created to help raise money for cancer-related organizations - get the bundle at http://crosswordsforcancer.com

Fun. But can someone tell me what the entry for 1A should be???
Never mind. A lesser known pen name. Found it.

Forty-eight of you solved "Naming Rights." To get the meta answer you had to identify the pen names and then the authors' real names (which took some Googling), and then realize that the RIGHTS in the title meant you should use the right-hand letters in the real names --> SEUSS (I also accepted DR. SEUSS).
Thank you to KayW for creating the reveal.
@Berto is the randomly drawn winner of the SSS prize, which is a copy of the most recent book I have read. I can't yet reveal its name as it deals with my vacation (which is the subject of my May 22 "Postcards From the Edge" MMM puzzle), but it's really interesting.
Thank you all for solving!

I did this one over a week late (just found it). No nudges needed (I submitted SEUSS on Crosshare). This was a great construction! such a small grid but no need for more. thanks!
The other Wendy.
