On the shore island🏝️ entirely due to Alex's rowing. MGWCC done too... Weekend chores await with no worthy distractions.

Three weeks in a row on shore on Friday night (which is when the pencils come out and get sharpened). I would think I’m getting the hang of these but then I always get humbled.

Needed a little help from Mr. G to solve the grid, but happy to be on shore so early. Still snowing here in the Colorado mountains so I'll take a hot toddy to keep me warm. Cheers!

Grid done but still working on the meta. I need to get going on this. Had to draw my own grid to get going. (Not at home when puzzle came out.) Got tired of coloring in all those black spaces. 🤦‍♀️

Well dang! Apparently I am NOT on shore. I swung and missed for what I thought was a good reason but completely ignored the things that warned me I was not. Haste makes waste! I guess I should not try to be a solo solver, my eagerness gets me in trouble.

Hopefully it will at least be a good rabbit hole story

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

@JeanneC I have had to do that when I was traveling also. I started printing out a 15X15 grid so at least the lines were straight and even. Even so, coloring (mine were just squiggles with a pen) of the black squares was tedious. Good luck

@drtom - I probably did the same thing however even after getting the correct answer, I like mine better.

RobM wrote: Fri Mar 24, 2023 9:46 pm What's the etiquette of submitting a second answer when you submit one that you realize was wrong and then you get the right one? That's what happened to me this week. At any rate, I'm on shore, even if I hit a coral reef that I thought was solid land on the way there.
@RobM I believe that the WSJ culls out multiple answers from the same email address. As far as etiquette goes, that is a personal decision. Statistically, it won't impact your poor odds of winning the mug. Maybe you should bet on a #1 seed in the NCAA men's tournament like Alabama (oops), Houston (oops), Purdue (oops), or Kansas (oops). On second thought, stick to going after the mug.

One the beach but as I was badly OREO-ROLLED (painfully... I honestly didn't see it coming) I'll bite back by deliberately ordering a Dirty Girls Scout.
Oreo-rolled is fabulous terminology.

Ashore. It took a while to find Step Two. I swam in using the back(solve)stroke.

Good Saturday morning muggles

An interesting challenge from the nefarious Mr. Gaffney. However the muggles are up to the challenge as we have 3 on the ship with Isaac and 193 on the shore.

Before we get to the list, I want to thank all those who do work to make this forum super successful, not only on this topic but those who keep all the other topics running smoothly and those who create all the metas to keep us occupied with our passion every day of the week.

If any of you have an interest in either helping out or if you have any new ideas or suggestions, let us know. Help and ideas are always welcome.

Now to the business at hand

On the ship with Isaac are

Oxford Comma Mama
JeanneC
DrTom - not sure how to count the good doctor as he swam to the wrong shore and then swam back to the ship.

And on the shore are
