My cousin used to be a ski instructor at Jackson Hole. He used free heel/telemark skis and had thighs of iron. We went to Jackson a couple of times. If there is a run to avoid it is Corbet's Couloir. It is not long but there is no forgiveness to it. It is narrow. It is steep. It is moguled and there are rock walls on both sides. And there is a 10 foot drop to get in. So how hard can it be. To get a better feel, watch this.
As Descartes said just before he disappeared, "I Think NOT!"

Alta vs Snowbird - I always liked Snowbird better, the lift (I think it was Little Cloud) that served the top where the tram drops you off (or the tram itself if you didn't mind the wait) provided some great skiing. There were some other very manageable runs near the top as well. I mean Chip's Run is intermediate and goes 2.5 miles from the top of the tram to the bottom. I was not an expert skier by any stretch of the imagination but I was a very bold intermediate who often "thought" he could handle the diamonds and double diamonds (more often than not I was wrong).
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Finally ashore, after giving up for the evening. Resigned to a difficult weekend solve, I did my ritual bedtime quick-look, and there it was -- Whoosh! I cannot count the times over the years I've had to relearn the simple lesson I relearned tonight: Read the instructions, THEN solve the problem. Get that simple sequence wrong, and -- as the mariners' maps warned in olden times -- "Here be rabbits . . ."

On the beach.

I’m amazed at the solving speed of many of you! It took a bit of research to do the 2nd step (depending on how you count steps). That took time. Also had to backsolve to correct one part a little bit.

Nice mechanism though!

Jackson Hole is steep. And telemark skiing takes unbelievable quad strength. Combine the two…

Would never risk my life on Corbet’s. Not the kind of skiing I like anyway.

I liked Alta better, though that could be just because they don’t allow snowboarders. My son preferred Snowbird.

I’ve been skiing in the South Lake Tahoe area all this week. I’m in Reno tonight, a day early, as 1) we were worried we wouldn’t be able to get out through the mountains tomorrow morning in time for our flights, and 2) Heavenly and ALL the other mountains in the Tahoe area were closed today due to the storm. Skied Kirkwood yesterday but had to leave at noon to get out before the storm closed the pass. It was still worth it.

We lucked out having our trip happen during this record-breaking snowfall. I’ve never skied in so much powder, or made so many fresh tracks. It just kept snowing and snowing. Then we’d have hours of bright sunshine and untouched runs. It was amazing. I did pop a ski while skiing through the trees and found myself in mid-thigh-high snow trying to find it.

And the sights in the area were also amazing. Streets carved out from the massive amounts of snow. Roofs piled high, and crews on those roofs clearing them off before last night’s rain came. First floors completely blocked. Cars buried under snow twice their height. Heavy machinery piling the cleared snow 15 or 20 feet high. I feel for the residents dealing with it all. But it was a sight to see.

On shore finally after much distraction on a trip to Baja. Rainy day today so I could concentrate on the meta. I needed a nudge though even though that was my next thought to try. Thanks @Wendy Walker

Grid done and Isaac serves wonderful coffee. In fact, he has been serving it to me since Thursday afternoon at 4:00pm.
Uh oh. I lose an hour of solving time this weekend. Better get going!

Ashore, finally. On my way here from the ship I took some deep dive detours, and while these delayed my arrival, I did see some brightly colored sea creatures that I would love to capture and put in a puzzle.

I feel like I just finished a long journey. Glad to be on the beach. Please send the cabana boy over. I don’t have enough left in me to trek to the tiki bar. 🍸🍺🥃
