Started last night at 11:30, which was not a good idea. But fresh eyes in the morning made it clear-- pass the Bailey's!

This week's puzzle was a masterpiece by Mr. Gaffney. It reminded me of the Mel Brooks movie where the character carrying suitcases kept repeating, "I got, I got it..., I don't got it...."

We enjoyed the intricate construction and satisfying answer. Like others, we continue to be amazed at the craftmanship that Matt demonstrates, time after time.

Thought I had Step 1 right away, but right now I'm at the bar with Isaac waiting for "aha".

Yes. It does help to sleep on it occasionally.
Ashore for the puzzle but on the tarmac with “engine trouble”. Will have a single malt or three tonight.

I've got two steps - don't know which one comes first or how to tie them together. In others, ON THE BOAT. Taking a break for now...

I've made to step 1, but won't have a real chance to sit down with it again until tomorrow or Sunday, so hope the rest comes to me while I'm sleeping :)

So, I'll have this drink I came up with tonight. Squeeze a quarter wedge of a Rangpur lime, add 3 oz. tequila, then 3 oz. pineapple juice, and then 6 oz. Bundaberg ginger beer. What should I call that drink. Whatever it's called, I'll have that.
That sounds like a Mexican Mule
A mexican mule doesn't have pineapple juice. The pineapple juice was essential.

@dudeski It is much better to be on the tarmac with "engine trouble" than to be in the air and find out.

Got it! This might be the first Gaffney I've solved solo.

Satisfying!

(I don't drink, so I hope those on the beach don't mind if I enjoy an NA beer and a cigar.)
