We ( I and Regfish7) have decided to pitch our umbrellas on the “beach less trodden”! It just seems more “Gaffney-esque” !
Good luck, Muggles!

Ashore. On a shore with some muggles at least. Ergcat and I puzzled and debated over this one but eventually agreed on the same answer (after considering splitting the difference to increase mug chances). At least we’ll be on the same beach together; hopefully it’s the right one!

I am late to the race this week but I believe I just crossed the Finish Line, depending on how that line finishes.

Better late than never, which is where I've been for at least the last two months or so. Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to all, as always, as long as we have family and friends, we have much to be thankful for.

I started just a few minutes ago after returning from a lovely weekend visiting my son's wonderful family. But I actually (amazingly) think I'm ashore!

An early Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Good evening muggles

Our final count is 1 on the ship and 219 on the (or a) shore.

at our Last Call Zoom call everyone had at least one answer so we discussed the options and rationale and then we conducted a poll with four potential answers. One option came out 50% and another option came out 50% of both what we believed the right answer was and also what was submitted.

So tomorrow's discussions both here and on crosswordfiend.com should be interesting.

I planned to be at that last call zoom, but time got away from me....again. I had already made my choice but wanted to hear everyone's take on it. Bob summed it up well though: it was still 50-50 so there was no argument so compelling that it won everyone over to one side, I guess

I just finished my Crossword Fiend writeup. I see both answers, but am firmly ensconced in one camp.

It would be really fun to be wrong, so we'll see.

Ooh, sounds good! Hope you've spotted a lot of wildlife and plants.
It’s been an amazing experience. Yes, the plant life is different and interesting. But it’s been hard to notice given all the amazing animals. When a male lion walks a few feet next to you, and stares at you, or an elephant plays games with your truck (pretending not to notice you, then looking up and staring straight at you and swaggering a bit, forcing your driver to go into reverse to back away safely), it’s hard to notice plants.

I’m not a birder, but some in our truck were, and the guide was an expert, so I even learned quite a bit about some very interesting birds.

This little guy came right up to us, just before a bigger, older male decided to show him who was the dominant one in the neighborhood.

Many other amazing close encounters. I am definitely not posting the graphic video I took of rhino sex. Felt somewhat guilty even recording it. May need some therapy to deal with it too.

Recorded some video of two of these guys (not this particular one) fighting. They basically stand side by side, pushing each other around, and swinging their heads/necks into each other for hours until one backs off or falls down (which is likely to result in death if they don’t get up within a minute or two).

All of us who counted all 21 Ks n in the puzzle and submitted 21k (or in my case half-marathon) probably just gave Mr Gaffney too much credit.

That's what I call the "Week 1" answer. I'm pretty sure the other options were "20k" and "half marathon" which is 21.1k, and there is a 21st k in the grid.

I counted 21k’s and submitted half marathon which what a 21 k race is slso called. I like 21k as a better answer than 5k.
