I'm still at the bar with Isaac. Should be a busy Last Call tomorrow, although I haven't given up hope. I've had many varied ideas, but none of them have paid off. Experience tells me I just need to shed them all and try something entirely new.

*but* in other news that's less of a bummer (theoretically... or, at least, hopefully...), my first attempt as a Rexword guest contributor went up this morning with my review of (obviously) the NYT Saturday crossword.

sooo for any readers of, or other guest writers for, RP: again, i just reaallllly can't stress enough the part about this being very much my first rodeo.

and, also, the other part, the one about how it could very well also be my last!!

thankfully, it looks so far like only one commenter has found me to be "out of control." so there's a promising head start to hold onto if i ever saw one!
As an avid reader of Rex’s reviews, I give you an A+!! Amazing! Entertaining and precisely on point. Great job! (My only additional comment is on 46A - Restroom sign - I’m not sure gents is very modern day…. )
Hope you’re back to fill in for Rex again soon!!

Solved, finally.
I knew what I needed to find....I just couldn't find it. @Cinny told me where to look.

Is the Rabbit Hole of the Week a real thing? If it is, I'm entering this week!

Lay hands on it;
think of the battle; you will not do it again!
Any hope of capturing it will be disappointed;
were not even the gods overwhelmed at the sight of it?
No one is so fierce as to dare to stir it up.
Who can stand before it?
Who can confront it and be safe?
—under the whole heaven, who?
[...]
On earth it has no equal,
a creature without fear.
It surveys everything that is lofty;
it is king over all that are proud.

yeeeeaaaahhh i'm gonna go ahead and say yep, yep, yep this all tracks. accurate representation of the meta. also the part about how it breathes smoke and fire out of its face and how its teeth are surrounded by terror.

mostly unrelated, but old testament the Lord is *wild.* like, just fully in a rage blackout, yelling at Job just to brag about how *his* outrageous invented monsters are the Best outrageous invented monsters.

"BEHOLD, THE HIPPO-- wait, no hold on hold on, that bigger one i hid in the ocean before is actually so legit though"

like, weird flex but ok

oh my gosh you've seriously made my night, probably my whole weekend actually. i really, really appreciate you taking the time to offer such supportive feedback.

and i definitely agree with you about "gents." probably best, though, that i left it out of my review, since someone would have inevitably figured out a way to take anything i said about a bathroom door sign as proof that I was trying to force my personal political agenda on everyone. *liz lemon eye roll*

Alas, still LAS! I just had a phone session with DD, Regfish. (She’s stuck in DFW with a delayed flight). But nothing came of our sharing our meta ideas…back to the drawing board!

Would have hired Isaac to come over to serve, but he seems very busy on the ship. Also, the tradition, here is for everyone to bring their own beverages, so we didn't need a bartender. I did not want to throw in the towel quite this early, anyway. I definitely see something but don't know what it has to do with football. Will keep at it and hope to come up with something to submit.
I think you might be thinking of the MGWCC no? That is the one about football.
You are absolutely correct. I discovered that error a little while ago.

I think I'm in the engine room; not much light and I can hear the bilge sloshing. At what o'clock are we scheduled to hit the reef?
Could not join any zoom calls, surprisingly little connectivity inside all this steel.

We're all up on the lido deck. Karaoke night. Didn't realize how much talent is in this group.

I am still at sea. I’ll be ordering some coffee while I continue to explore the ship and the many rabbit holes I’m finding.

Some weeks I feel like the meta equivalent of Alan Turing. Most weeks I am Forest Gump. This week?

In the immortal words of Roberto Duran to Sugar Ray Leonard:

"No mas".

This week it is Shenk by a TKO.

i'm similarly still at sea, and nowhere closer to solving this than i was yesterday or the day before that, so i'm probably just going to call it a loss this week. reallllly sick of looking at the same piece of paper for this long and having literally nothing new come to me. i'm still convinced the very first thing i assumed had to be involved somehow *is*, in fact, involved somehow, but that's where i've been stuck all weekend, so i'm over it.

I was checking the newish whiteboard feature in Zoom. I'm hosting a Muggle Zoom Room whiteboard session on WSJCC Power Play at 4 PM ET, today, tracking the unsolveds' ideas on the whiteboard & asking questions that might guide solvers to the answer.

Everyone is welcome. Be prepared to use the Chat & Raised Hand features, too. This will be an all hands participation session.

Looking forward to it and hoping it will be helpful.🤞
