Put it All Together

Formerly known as the “Sunday Summer Substitute”, editor Cap'n Rick now takes the helm for 'Smooth Sailing Sundays'. As The Commodores sang about Sunday morning, the SSS will focus on easier metas. SSS will also support smaller grids and will mentor new constructors on request. Puzzles released each Sunday around 8am Eastern. Nudges released same day at Noon Eastern. New constructors are welcome.

Got it, but the answer doesn't seem to fit the meta prompt all that well.

SSSolved! Even though I didn't see "more to the mechanism" until I went back after browsing the comments.
Bespoke nudges available upon request (if I'm on shore, off the couch, in the castle, petting an un-bagged cat, ...).
Let me know how small or large a hint you want, or hit me with a specific question(s).

I had the same thought. That alone delayed me quite a bit.

I am remiss!

Another Muggle has joined the drinking game!

EDIT - Wrong puzzle Tom, this should be "another Muggle got it all together!"

REVEAL DAY!

This was a fun puzzle to put together and I thank Cap'N Rick for giving me the opportunity to make a puzzle for this very special day. A lot of people guessed it from the prompt and the posting day, I mean it was posted on Mother's Day. Some thought it was just the preponderance of possible mothers (female animals) and the answer was inferred.

An interesting solve left out DUCK (which is actually the name for the female duck, the male is a drake) and anagrammed the other letters which formed MENSCH and certainly Mom's are all mensches, but that was not THE solve; the actual solve is:
Put it All Together Graphic Reveal sml.jpg
Oh, and if anybody was wondering what exactly the graphic was supposed to be, here it is "unscrambled"
