Thanks to some lovely fellow muggles for helping me out of my own self-imposed confusion I am now off the sofa! I simply was working back-asswards on "how to do a thing to another thing"- (don't wanna give it away).

Thanks @Abide,@Meg and @Al Sisti !

Very clever construction
Bob, I didn't get your submission :)

(There have been a few instances of me not receiving submissions lately - I hope it's not a server issue?)

Do not let my invisibility super power fool you.
I am still on the ugly piggy couch, counting my toes -- just wish I knew how many I actually have....

Nudge Wednesday!

Barnie did not, in fact, mishear what the conspirators were saying.

The sentence “Mr. Jock, TV quiz PhD., bags few lynx” has a certain special property.

Count how many letters that sentence has.

I was excited to see that when I googled Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Impending Heist I got a hit for this xwordmuggle forum... I hadn't read Encyclopedia Brown so thought it might have been an actual book.

I'm off the couch but did need spoilers....This was a really fun puzzle. Thanks so much!

Newbie question: where are these supposed to be submitted, and does it vary by week / puzzle-setter?

For the user-created puzzles (MMM, MEOW, etc.), send a private message with your answer submission to whoever posted the puzzle.

Usually to the first post-er in the thread, and don't worry if your outgoing message is "stuck" in your outbox, it just means the person hasn't read it yet.

The Cat (burglar) is out of the bag. The nudges nudged me over the finish line. Thanks Josh for an entertaining brainteaser.

I loved EB as a kid but always felt... inadequate. Never EVER figured out the mystery...
But for the rest of your life, the key facts are seared into your brain; e.g., squirrels climb down trees headfirst.
Lol. For me, it was that car hoods get hot.
For me, it was that you can't cut your fingernails right after a shower.

That's the best time! They're soft. We learned that with our kids too - clip their nails after a bath.

Sorry, I used the wrong word. Should have said "clip." In the EB story, EB knew the girl was lying because she was clipping her fingernails, and she said she had just showered. (I assume there were sound effects.)
