I don't suppose that saying that I never have heard of Encyclopedia Brown will get me any sympathy. After I grew up and before my kids.

Grid was easy - now what?

Fun diversion over lunch break! Figured out the code before I did the puzzle, as I’m sure many of you all did.

Cat out and capering.

I'm jealous....wish I had figured it out before the puzzle! No clue as of yet.

I'm almost in the same boat with Bob cruise director. I have in fact heard of EB, but that's as far as it goes. I even had been assuming that Encyclopedia was a girl just like all the other kids with a name that ends in ia.. If the books are as much fun as this puzzle, I'm gong to start reading them. In any case, it's another puzzle confirming that Madhatter is a member of the creative class.

Thanks for the feedback - I probably will make more story-puzzles since they're a lot of fun to make, and also give me a lot more freedom in terms of mechanisms

Even the leaderboard is cryptic. You okay, hatter?

Ich glaube, ich kann der Wanderer sein (Oder die Wanderin). Ich gehe immer nach Hause!

Interesting Liederboard for the braune Enzyklopädie.
It looks like @Franz1797 is in der Lied, with @RSchumann trilling behind. And the cycle isn't complete without der Schwanengesang of the board: @gustiandalma.
Surprising that @WAM, @J&B or @notoneSchön aren't on yet.
Perhaps there's still time...
Und im kleinen Kahne wird uns bang,
Wellen drohn wie Zeiten Untergang.

But for the rest of your life, the key facts are seared into your brain; e.g., squirrels climb down trees headfirst.
