Ashore.
There probably was a time that I would have gotten this meta unassisted.
Much has changed since then.
Thanks google!

Mint juleps all weekend! Now that the threat of pollen is mostly over this far south we will do the traditional derby day porch washing then sit back and enjoy the race. Cheers and hoping for clean porches for everyone this spring.
Oh yes my husband reminded me last night that it is porch washing time in Matthews! At least we hired someone to do the traditional Mother’s Day weekend mulch this year.

Oh pull the damn dingy up on the beach, and I'll buy you a drink.
I'm partial to Belgian wheat beers if you're buyin.

Grammar, Lord Peter Wimsey, AND knitting?! Where have you been all my life???
Yeah, that's me: Trendy Wendy. Actually, my name has never been used in a sentence with the word "trendy."

How funny that you said that! One of my early thoughts was, "I'll bet Schmeel will have some problems getting this one!"
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Found the grid to be tougher than the meta.

I had to sleep on this one, but I'm happily ashore now. Stupid sports. I freaked myself out.
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

For those of us unacquainted with Lord Peter Wimsey, how would you recommend correcting this?
Correct by immediately purchasing and reading Murder Must Advertise - a nice start. Then follow up with Strong Poison, Have His Carcase, Gaudy Night, and Busman's Honeymoon, all by Dorothy Sayers. My personal favorite is The Documents in the Case, but that does not feature Lord Peter.

As to the puzzle this week, it was easier to solve than any of the Dorothy Sayers mysteries will be. However, since we are not up to the standard of Lord Peter Wimsey, we will settle for being safely on the beach.
Gaudy Night is my favorite. There is also a collection of short stories called simply Lord Peter, if you want to start with lighter fare.

"How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks."
Dorothy L. Sayers, Gaudy Night

Ashore with my quickest ever solve on the Meta. Maybe I'm getting better at these? Found the grid a bit of a challenge.
