A knitting meta! I love it. Now how could that work... OK, can't do a full puzzle but how about...

The answer to this contest is a 4 letter word.
Four theme entries, 10 letters each. Clues are:

# Feline flyer
# Use a bread machine
# Super cute Australian/Chinese hybrid
# Dried fruit on a stick

Theme answers are

KITTYPILOT
POWERKNEAD
KOALAPANDA
PRUNEKABOB

Would be super easy for the knitters and require some uninteresting googling for the rest.
Ha ha! Love it!!

I got the hard part. Now I’m in the bar with Isaac reading all the entertaining comments. I’ll get back to the meta in a bit.

Solved it at work hours ago but just got home to submit and enjoy a tasty libation. Count me ashore; predicting many happy solvers. Thank goodness I don’t have to mask outdoors anymore.

Is there a cabana girl?
The cabana boy is a figment of my imagination. If you want to invent a cabana girl, go for it. But it’s a heavy responsibility. Muggles will expect a cabana girl to have a personality. Don’t you have enough on your plate, what with keeping track if who’s on shore (thank you for doing that) and who's hanging with Isaac? But I digress. I’m sure nobody on this forum would want to stifle your imagination!

Question for @Joe Ross Have there really been more contests dealing with sports than knitting?

I know a lot about the subject, maybe too much, but this was a NEVER for me.
Um... This "WAS a never" for you? Isn't it only Thursday?

I'm reminded of all the many wonderful quotes I've heard over a lifetime about how starting with a positive attitude is much more likely to result in a positive outcome. They probably started with the children's tale The Little Train Who Could. (Though not SNL's Mr. Mike's version.)

We've seen you post dire predictions before, followed by an edit to say you solved it. So I'm guessing you're underestimating yourself. But hey... to each his/her own. If you don't think you'll solve it, you could not even try and be immediately correct! Enjoy your weekend either way!

I found some stuff I think I was supposed to find, but it's not leading me anywhere.

I may be drinking on the ship this week.

Safely on shore...one of the key entries threw me off because it looked like it could be used in a different fashion with a similar theme. That expression was only familiar to me due to its use in an alliterative nickname for an old-time baseball player...

She’s the one wearing a hula skirt, playing a uke in Oahu, and saying aloha offering you a lei. ( couldn’t fit Oreo in there).
