I'm confirmed off the couch. This is definitely not in my wheelhouse, but I actually did have the right general idea last night, I just didn't approach it correctly. Looked again this evening and realized I'd missed an important instruction, and once I applied that, one more trip to google and there it was.
I enjoyed the grid too - challenging but gettable. I had one wrong letter - square #39 - where I was guessing at both words. Everything else that I didn't know, I could figure out through the crossings.
And speaking of the grid, my husband is a retired airline pilot and in his last several years of work flew regularly to 1D. Much to my surprise, he never had a passenger getting on the plane stop by the cockpit to ask him that Dionne Warwick lyric. How could anyone resist that?!

Just got around to it. A real Googlefest for me. Submitted a clean answer.
Nice concept. I like it.
edit: OOPs, forgot it was ten-letters. Had those written next to other answer.
Must be right now.

Guest Nudge from hcbirker
Using highlighters is a good idea!
Real Nudge 1
You should already have the first step. Now look in another area of the grid. May not hurt to look over the clues as well

Off the couch, pre-nudges!
I got to it late this week.
I printed the puzzle at work before I left for the day and filled much of it on my bus ride home - but needed google to complete the grid and solve the meta.
Great puzzle!

Nudge 2
Remember Parentheses Rule 1: Don't get too focused on them until it's time. Instead think about the title and that special area of the grid.

Nope . . . looks like I'm going to have to take my clipboard to Date Night tonight (poor Mark). The last time that happened for an MMM was the eye chart puzzle!

Nudge 3 (Wendy’s triple with cheese)
You were ignoring the parentheses. But don’t ignore the bottom row. Any of it.

Off the couch!
Not exactly a "nudge". But, I did need confirmation that I was on the right track.
Kudos to dudeski for the support!
Very clever meta, Abide!

I think I'll be on the couch for a while in more ways than one.
Not even Peter's generous nudges got me off the couch; I needed our Cruise Director to activate the ejection seat. I had all the basics but strayed many nautical miles from the correct path! Oh well, at least I "solved" it before Date Night, much to Mark's relief. We ate our AMAZING shrimp quesadillas and strolled around town with no clipboard in sight.
