I am never in a hurry to solve a variety cryptic, and this one took me three days of putting down and picking up”. Especially since the puzzle requires stand-alone clue solving with no crossing letters to assist before you can get in the grid. I entered in the southeast corner, having fully solved 8 and 4. Even so, it took me a while to break in. Challenging, at least for me. My last clue solved was 1c.
