Ashore on Thursday this week - a first for me since I never seem to get around to the puzzle until the weekend. I hope everyone enjoys the last weekend of winter!

Ashore in fairly good time. Almost went down a rabbit hole with the meta, but a lightbulb finally went on.

Haven't started the puzzle yet. Waiting at the dock for the gang plank to be lowered so I can board. (Or, more accurately, waiting on the gang [two kids] to be ready.)

But it is also my anniversary. Started with Variety Show by Mike Shenk and got it very easily, thinking, "Oh, I'm good at these!" Didn't get the next two. Getting 50% 3 months in, 70% 6 months in, 75% at 9 months. The spreadsheet showed I was getting the Mike Shenk puzzles 75% of the time, and the Matt Gaffney ones 25% at the start. I got better at Matt's so that I'm now at an overall 80% success rate, though I'm on a 17 puzzle streak right now.

I’m on shore. Found the grid much more challenging than the meta. Happy weekend, everyone!

On shore after a quick swim. I had more trouble with the grid than the meta this week, which made me feel great after the events of today.

I got a late start today because my first order of business was solving the flood I woke up to in my kitchen. What are the chances that a shutoff valve, hot water sink supply line, AND a dishwasher supply line all fail in unison? If you live in a hundred and twenty year old house, the odds may stacked against you. I was pageanted multiple times today in my pursuit of plumbing excellence, but I can happily report that all things are now functional and leak free.

That being said, it's my favorite negroni this evening. Beefeater, campari, and antica formula. Made at twice the volume that a classic negroni calls for because 3 oz of booze is nowhere near enough after all that. Happy Friday night, muggles!

Correction: 18 puzzle streak. On Shore!

Having a Müller-Thurgau. Just because it's fun to pronounce.

Hear, hear! on the quantity. Is it a bad sign that I would call 3 oz a "halfsie"?

Love the formula. Carpano Antica is a fav and a constant occupant of the fridge.

1 oz each has never seemed like enough for that cocktail. The last place I worked pre-pandemic, we made the decision to make it as 1.5 oz x 3 and just charge $1.50 more for it, which I felt was more than fair, and most people noted that it seemed like more of a proper pour versus what they were used to. Upped Old fashioneds and other classics as well.

Puzzle was a bit of a slog, but enjoyed learning about some new places. Nice meta.

Going to sip on a good whiskey and watch some hoops.

Ashore for me, usually don't get to the puzzle until the weekend proper. Raising a glass to remember a workmate, a consummate professional who will be missed. Cheers, Dave.
