It dropped to 70 in Honolulu. I was looking for my parka.

Hear, hear! on the quantity. Is it a bad sign that I would call 3 oz a "halfsie"?

Ashore. Easy meta thanks to Google. Impossible meta without Google. Grid was more of a challenge for me.

On shore drinking a Perennial Sump coffee stout. Thank you to Brian, Bob, Yuriy and all the Muggles for making this happen and for being super cool people.

I do know it, and I've gotten nothing but support and positivity from everyone during the whole ordeal. You guys are really the best! Part of my hesitation to ever take money is that I know how passionate and kind and generous this group is and I'm seriously worried that I'm going to end up with $1000 leftover.

While I miss the journey solves of the harder metas, it’s probably better for me to have these weekends free as I slog through tax season...which ONCE AGAIN looks like it will never end. Ashore, and back to tax prep!

And many thanks to the hard work of the site admins. I know it’s not easy to be your own IT person. It makes me snap at people who live with me. ;)

Well, my strategy of going (somewhat) with bird mascots is helping my bracket. Thank you Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts--didn't really think THAT upset was going to work.

I was thinking we should maybe have a bad pun jar, but maybe not... that would gross way over $1000! 😂

Edit: Or... we could produce a theatrical performance about puns. It would, of course, be a play on words.

Ok - I guess that’s my pledge accounted for.

A smile took the place of a frown
As each clue in the grid whittled down
To a perfect solution:
That I seek restitution
By taking a break out of town
(& country ;) )

The shore seems like a perfect place to be this weekend for the first paddle of 2021 🛶 and since I am there early this week, I can enjoy the kayaking with no perturbing distractions. Thanks for an interesting puzzle that challenged me to learn.

Ashore. I always love a difficult grid.

There was a puzzle called "Saturday Stumper" from Newsday that I loved to tackle until a couple of months ago when it became "Themeless Saturday" and significantly easier. It was always challenging but sensible (in contrast to the bizarre "cryptics" you sometimes find). If anyone has a puzzle with good, tough grids, I'd love to hear about it.

On shore!
Really appreciating the easy one this weekend as I've just moved to a different flat in Barcelona, and am currently overwhelmed by unpacking my small mountain of boxes and figuring out how to organize everything. (I'm a very "everything in its place" person... figuring out that place is the hard part!)

Bit chilly for early springtime here (~48F currently) but at least it's sunny! Happy weekend to all.

Head hanging low in Carolina this morning (2 sons’ alma mater) but really my heart is more with one of my OWN alma maters so still hopeful. (go VIRGINIA!)
(Update edit:  )

Posted on the WSJ site yesterday while suffering deprivation anxiety from missing THIS one!
