Got it. I will be heading to shore after a side trip to the penalty box as self punishment for needing help. I won’t be submitting the correct answer. Maybe I’ll send in what was going to be my good, but incorrect, Hail Mary. Bet it won’t be the only one, and the WSJ will know there was one more person working hard on this good meta.

What keeps us coming back is the many, many ways that the constructor have for coming up with meta methods.

From ship to shore in near-record time for me. This one just clicked. Glad to be hanging out on the beach with a frou-frou drink.

We are with Isaac. Definitely not seeing the mechanism or understanding the year references.
Still time though!

I am SO STUCK. I've tried every combination of rabbit tunnels I can think of, which are many. Grrrrr. I may have to give up and ask for help, but I hate to break my streak!

I could use a nudge. Who is online tonight that has already solved and wouldn’t mind hearing what I have?
Thank you in advance.

Probably the best strategy of them all!eagle1279 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:28 pmHappily you missed me in the list of the shipbound (#167), but even more happily I am now on shore. After wasting lots of time yesterday futilely googling, the mechanism revealed itself to me after I had gone to bed. Next week I will just go straight to bed after finishing the grid...Bob cruise director wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 11:58 am We have 12 on the ship and 119 on the shore.

Thanks to a helpful nudge from "Downeast", I believe I am now safely ashore.

I thought that I was ashore last week, but instead was on a sand bar that became submerged on Monday. I'm in the bar with Isaac this week, waiting for the fog to be lifted.

On shore. Had the right idea, just wasn't taking it far enough.

First time poster. Meta gave me trouble because of my age (too young for much of it!) but happy I made it through. Glad to be on shore!

On shore. Once again, I wasn’t able to concentrate on this until Saturday at bedtime, at which point it all came together nicely. Good puzzle, good meta!

Quick check in to let you know Dom was ashore before I even opened the link. I made it yesterday. Hope all of you are doing well. Good luck Muggles!

Stuck on the boat, floating cluelessly into the sunset.
