Hi all,

I made another thing!

The answer to this meta is an infamous historical figure.

Done the grid --- working on the meta.
Hoping for results before 4:00! :)

No luck so far with this meta or your previous one, but I just wanted to say thanks for putting them out there!

Thanks Laura!

I want to give a nudge here because I feel I made this one too subtle. There are no themers in the puzzle. The meta relates to one of the columns in the grid

Solution here:

Each row of the grid begins with a letter in Tokyo.

Therefore these are TOKYO ROSE

The answer is confirmed by the title ("What's in a name? That which we call a rose ...") as well as the words propaganda and radio in the grid.

I give myself a fail for this one since it was not really fair for the solver to spot it. Next one will be better I promise!

Oh, no! It's great! Yes, a bit subtle, but the reward of that wordplay more than makes up for it. :)
In fact after your nudge, I did get the Tokyo part and was about to toss another silly answer your way: "Tokyo Rose's infamous brother, Otto" -- because I couldn't (duh) make the Rose connection.

Excellent signature line, BTW.

Don't be so hard on yourself. It did take a couple of nudges, but once it was clear where to look it came together.

Nice meta. A head slapper for me. I had it early and even had the answer written down. I just could not pull it together. I had a reverse bias because of a similarity to one of the WSJ Saturday monthly puzzles. I dismissed the solution!

I finally got it, with a nudge from another solver. In retrospect I'm kicking myself for not catching on sooner.
